Cinema Preview: Grassroots

Out November 9th

SYNOPSIS

A bad-tempered, unemployed music critic, Grant Cogswell (Joel David Moore), that likes to dress up as a polar bear believes he can harness the power of the people in order to ride the monorail to political victory in Seattle. Before Twitter, the flash mob and Obama, Cogswell decides he has no choice but to take down city councilman, Richard McIver (Cedric The Entertainer), and his dream is a big one; an elegant monorail gliding silently above the city’s wet streets.

SHOULD YOU SEE IT?

We were going to say no, but this movie’s cast, despite its slightly ridiculous premise, has put us on the fence a little. During the trailer Joel David Moore comes across a little bit like Tom Green, and that can only be a good thing. Jason Biggs seems his regular self, make of that what you will, which, judging by some of his lesser-known films, can be a little hit or miss. On the whole though it looks like the jokes will be flowing freely throughout the movie, and that should make up for the slippery plot.

VERDICT?

Our minds are telling us not to bother
