In Frank Coraci’s new comedy Here Comes The Boom, former college wrestler Scott Voss (Kevin James) is a bored, apathetic fourty-two year old biology teacher in a failing high school facing cutbacks. When budgetary constraints lead to the planned termination of the music program and its teacher, Marty Streb (henry Winkler), Voss decides that something must be done and, after meeting former mixed martial arts fighter, Niko (Bas Rutten), he discovers that he can raise the money needed to save the day just by entering a fight himself. Everyone, especially the school nurse, Bella (Salma Hayek), thinks Frank crazy, but as his quest grows he gains more support than he could have ever realized.
SHOULD YOU SEE IT?
Here Comes The Boom sees Kevin James once again take up the role of class clown, albeit at the front of the classroom this time, that his fans know and love. With flops like I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry and Zookeeper blotting his career and King Of Queens having ended five years ago the beloved standup and comedy actor needs and deserves an opportunity to shine like he did in Grown Ups, and Here Comes The Boom looks like it’ll give him that chance.
Kevin James’ll bring the pain and laughs, right to the gut.
