Golden Globe Nominations 2013

With plenty of great films and personalities snubbed. The Golden Globes 2013 is, after the unveiling of the nominations, shaping up to be a redundant and ridiculous affair.

Many of the year’s greatest films including The Hobbit, The Cabin In The Woods and Skyfall have been left out of the running for an award, while dull and quickly forgettable pictures like Salmon Fishing In The Yemen and The Silver Linings Playbook received multiple nominations.

It’s a similar story with the likes of Joss Whedon, Kiera Knightley and Christopher Nolan. Some of 2012’s most outstanding actors and directors have been snubbed, with the committee instead plumping for players like Jack Black, Richard Gere and David O. Russell.

Most of this isn’t much of a surprise. The Golden Globes have a tendency to ignore major Blockbusters in favour of small fry, but some people were really robbed.

30 Rock creator Tina Fey and her former Saturday Night Live collaborator Amy Poehler will host the awards ceremony on January 13th.
